Mermod Freres "re-invented" their cylinder boxes, creating designs that were loud and resonant, and with interchangeable cylinders that one could purchase later on after the music box was produced. The end result were perhaps some of the best-sounding cylinder music boxes ever made, and ones that a customer could keep adding cylinders to his music library. Sublime Harmonie Piccolo", playing large 18" long x 2.5" diameter nickel-plated cylinders. Fitted with a "Jacot's Safety Check" (to prevent cylinder runs), speed control, tune selector, change/repeat mechanism and "zither" for tone moderation, this is about as good as they get. It was professionally restored and tuned and sounds just great. walnut case measures 37" wide x 16" deep x 9" high (when closed) and 27" high (opened). It features inlay and banding on the front, and is in wonderful condition. The original lock and key is present, and the extra cylinders fit nicely in the custom built chest. The tune cards are replacements.
